Hello world!
WooHa! Yippee! Yeehaw! Whatever your exclamation of excitement is, I am excited! Finally, Soulshots photography is out on the world wide web in some sort of fashion. I greet adding another task to my list in my already chaotic life, but finally something for me. Soulshots photography has been in the works for almost a year now, but finding the time to get things ready to launch can be tough! The website is coming soon, but until then I am ready to roll on with my new blog! At this point, I am sure that I have made skeptics of all those around me, but ha! Here it is!
I just recently had three days off, for three weeks of work. Despite the 16+ hours of driving, it was a much needed break from working 24/7. Jeff and I traveled to Omaha, Nebraska for his cousin’s wedding. This was my first time in the grand state of Nebraska, and while I wasn’t there long enough to soak it all in, one thing is for sure….I DO NOT miss humidity! After 8 hours in the car, I stepped out to a hot, sticky sauna of grossness and immediately wanted to retreat back to my mountain bubble….but there was a wedding to attend! As some of you may know, I have been working as a wedding photographer this summer in addition to my other full time job as a waitress. So what if I am working 60+ hours a week, it is really awesome to get paid doing something I love. That being said, I was ready to attend a wedding and relax a little. It was also fabulous getting to meet the remainder of Jeff’s wonderful family. I hope they enjoyed spending time with me as much as I did with them. I got some great shots over the weekend of Jeff’s sweet cousins, the happy couple and of course my dreamy boyfriend. Enjoy!
So…on Saturday (our only full day in Nebraska) Jeff and I got some much need sleep and slept in! It was wonderful! We awoke at 10:30 and had to be at the church at 2:30. That meant four whole hours to ourselves, to do whatever we please! Exciting…yes, but things don’t always go as planned. We could have gone to the second best zoo in the US (in Nebraska? I know, but yes really, in Nebraska), but we decided Jeff need a little cleaning up before participating in his little cousins wedding. So I looked up a barbershop. What did we do before google? Keiwit Plaza Barbershop was the first advertised on google, and the reviews were great. I read things such as, “…very old fashioned (in a good way) and very intersted in his coustomers. Stan takes his time and does a great job” and “a neat, clean barber shop with the most comfortable chairs I’ve ever sat in” and “Truly a class act. He gives a good haircut, and he is interested in his customers. Stan has a sense of humor, and is quite interesting, himself. He will talk your ear off, if he thinks you have time to chat.” Sounded like a photo op to me, so of course I brought my camera along with my new fixed 50mm. To Jeff and my experience, all the reviews rang true, but perhaps we should have focused more on the one that said Stan takes his time; or maybe I should have been forewarned when I spoke on the phone with Stan beforehand, and he continued to give me directions after I told him I would mapquest it. This is all to say that all of our spare time for the day was spent at the barbershop, and despite the loss of a little more hair than we had hoped, and a little skin(!), we made a memory that day, and if we find ourselves in Omaha again in need of a haircut, we will go back.
…and now looking all clean cut, off to the wedding…
…and as you will soon see, I am very enamored with trees!
That’s all for now! Thank you for reading and check back soon for some sneak peak at galleries to come soon to the website!
