Model Fun with Fine Featherheads

Yesterday I did a shoot with some ladies from Fine Featherheads.  They make totally awesome feather hair extensions that are taking over the country.  We were shooting in 15 degree weather, which was definitely a great experience for me.  After that I feel like I can pretty much do anything.  The models were lovely and knew how to work it.  Here are a few of my favorite images and I can’t wait to continue working on them.  Don’t forget to find us on facebook!

Filmstrip Friday: The face of Harper Marketing

Man, it has been another big week as usual.  I actually had a momentous occasion this week…..I retired my apron.  I have been working in the service industry for almost 10 years now, so it’s been a long time commin’.  It was a rush of many emotions, to which I won’t bore you with.  I thought ditching one job would free up some spare time, but that has yet to happen, so I wait.  On the photog side of life, I have been doing a lot of head shots lately.  It must be the time of year for change and upgrade.  I have been blessed with clients not only easy on the eyes, but willing to step a little out of the box.  They have been more like portrait sessions.  I took some pictures of M.Harper last week.  He is a web designer and marketing guru.  You can visit his site here.  He has also helped me along my journey of business and the world wide web, so when he asked if I would update his head shots I was thrilled. As two busy people, it took us a while to coordinate our schedules, and the threat of the second Boulder fire almost caused reason for another re-schedule, but alas, it all worked out this time!

Sneak Peek of Galleries to come: Living in Love

Kids are one of my favorite things to photograph.  They are so unpredictable in their actions and the speech.  This provides for a fun and adventurous time.  Plus they are just so darn cute!  Especially these little kiddos.  Both these shoots were done a year ago in anticipation of the launch of Soulshots Photography.  I told you it has been a long time coming!  Enough talking…here is a sneak peak of a few of my favorites!

In the beginning, I started my job as a wedding photographer for experience.  It is like jumping in cold water to wake you up.  You kinda just get thrown in and BAM, steaks are high, no messing up allowed.  Thankfully,  I have not made any major mistakes at this point and hopefully won’t, but it is definitely a fast paced learning environment in which to hone my skills.  It is a lot of time on my feet, laying on the ground, climbing on things, all for that perfect shot.  It can be exhausting and I had thought that weddings were too high maintenance and caused too much anxiety, and thus I didn’t really see it as a long term thing.  While all the above descriptions ring true, I have really come to love shooting weddings.  Good, free food aside, it is really special to be a part of such a memorable day for so many people.  It is such a joyous day for the happy couple, and for their families.  After most weddings, I leave feeling rejuvenated in my love for my wonderful relationship and for my wonderful family.  I always find myself reflecting on the love that is shared in both these relationships and how lucky I am to have so many wonderful people in my life, much less,  a part of my family.  It has turned out to be a great experience not only for my love of photography, but also for my soul and my gratitude for all the people in my life!  Here are a few of my favorite shots from over the summer.
